So much is happening — and yet, thanks to time being frozen, nothing is happening at all — that Amos is able to snap into survival mode. Push aside his own bullshit, focus on what needs to be done. It's disappointing, in a way, that escape is going to come so easily; at the same time, he knows not to look a gift horse in the mouth. He'll figure out what to do with that disappointment, the urge to beat something until it doesn't get back up, as though that'll solve things, later.

He's been through enough portals here to trust how they work. The first one is a marvel to step through. The second one — one that promises reclusivity, a chance to get away from all of this — that's the one—

He feels someone touch him and whirls around, wild look in his eyes, fist half-ready to be cocked back, land a blow. But then he sees who it is and. Jesus. He can't do that.

Lets his hand fall back to his side; takes a steadying breath. It's debatable how much it actually helps, but at least he's not squaring up for a fight now.

Amos eyes Nadine, not really sure what she's doing, why she'd want to talk to him again. But she does, apparently. And the portal's not too far away. Not like he's going to run out of time.

(If he does, then maybe he can get it out of his system, regardless.)

"Hey."
