It seems to have caught something, and all they can do for now is trust its instincts, which gives Petra a moment to address Hilda's choice of words. They've both been frustrated with the situation at hand, to put it kindly, having turned up with very little so far, but she knows that their current venture is well outside of Hilda's comfort zone.
