Istredd is not going to judge anyone for getting emotional about this situation, even if he's managed to stay characteristically stoic so far. It won't last. He did survive a great deal of darkness as a young mage so it will take a little longer before this starts cutting him deep. His concern for Wilhelm may very well be one of the things that breaks him; easier to keep it together when he has less to worry about.

Even now Istredd's instinct is to start using magic. It would be easy to help clean the cloak, except it isn't. He reaches for something that dies out before he can use it. Abraxan magic is no help either. He's never felt so helpless in his entire life.

"Yes, it is, but we'll figure it out." He puts a hand on Wilhelm's shoulder, gentle and reassuring, but only briefly. "We have to ration our supplies but people have been finding animals in here, you don't have to stay hungry." They might not ever be full in here, but they probably won't starve. The water is more of a concern.
