Istredd has a feeling some of them will approach the situation of the woman in a variety of ways. He picked the polite approach, unsurprisingly, but he suspects others may not be so kind. And he wouldn't blame them. They all want to get out of here. It's impossible to tell if she's friend or foe. He doubts anyone will end up a friend in here. It's them vs. anyone else. It's his job to get them all out alive.

"Usually I can sense where illusions are, but I ... can't." Not really, not the same way. He lacks his strong connection to Chaos. Istredd was taught by the best illusion mage in the Brotherhood, he's usually exceptional at creating and destroying them. But he feels very blind here. He may as well be a normal person at this point.

"I think we may have to approach this situation as us needing to escape over just survive until they get here." It isn't that Istredd doubts their desire to save their friends. Just the ability for them all to live long enough.
