It feels like his most important sense is gone. There probably are mages who would rather lose any of the other senses over their connection to Chaos. Now Istredd is feeling that way, but it is survivable. It's painful, in a way. Yennefer couldn't handle this loss and it led her down a dark path, but he's more aware than ever at just how stubborn she is. Because she should have grabbed for his power when he offered it.
Istredd tends to be more direct and sincere than offer false platitudes, it's his lack of social skills. He may be getting better at it, but it's mostly using old knowledge, he was trained to be good in a court after all. In the start talking to Wilhelm felt like he had to watch his words, but he finds they've reached a place where he doesn't think he has to. The boy needs to be protected, but he can also handle it.
"Don't dance for joy over that fact," he says dryly. It is meant as a gentle tease because training is not always easy for Wilhelm, although they are getting better.
"If you want to do me a favor, get a head count of everyone here. In the safe area, if they're in the side areas, that's not your problem." He doesn't want him going anywhere unsafe. He should stay within view, or at least within running distance. "If you arrived there's probably others."
Hopefully he can start him out on finding things to do.
Can wrap on this one and start a week 2 one!
