[ He knows that Claude is athletic enough to handle this based on how they traversed through that collapsing house in Libertas, but Steve's instinct is still to be the one to take the leap first, just in case. At least Claude doesn't argue the point with him, focused instead on widening the opening for him to make his job a little easier.
Steve can't rely on his normal enhancements right now, which means he takes a bit more care with preparing to jump down than he might in any other situation. He moves right to the edge of the chamber, draws a breath to steady himself, and then leaps out.
Luckily enough, the fall isn't too far and the ground he lands on turns out to be soft soil instead of hard rock. Yeah, that could have been a lot worse.
He stands from the crouch he landed in and looks back up at where Claude waits, now seeing that he's inside some sort of strange plant or fungal growth set into the cavern wall. Did whoever took them just shove them into those? The logistics of that leave a lot of questions in his mind, but that's not important right now. ]
... Huh. Looks like there are some vines you could grab onto if you want to climb down.
[ There are also more of those pods scattered all over the cavern wall. Is Sylvain in one of them, then? And how many others...? ]
