[ It isn't painless, but amidst the rest, the tug of the tendrils, the cut of the knife barely registers. Ciri clenches her teeth, waiting.

It comes free. The glimpse she gets of it in Geralt's hand shows the device clear of whatever growths have begun to coil under her skin, and despite the horror of what's been done to her, Ciri manages to feel the tiniest spark of relief. Maybe it's okay. Not damaged. It is metal, after all. Shouldn't be so easy to destroy, right? (She has no idea how it works.)

Geralt's voice cuts through her thoughts. Ciri winces.

This is not the place or time she intended to tell him (if she ever intended to tell him at all). She breathes out shakily, taking a long few seconds to gather her thoughts, while he tends to her wound and she watches his hands, not his face. ]

...that little device is sending a signal. Like an invisible beacon.

[ That's all that matters. She doesn't know how, but she knows that it's working. Hopes it's still working. Ciri's head snaps up; her eyes are bloodshot, cheeks flushed with fever, but her gaze meets Geralt's hard and determined.

She knows. She knows he won't agree, and braces for what comes next. ]

Geralt, it's our way out of here.
