She smiles back, soft but also thin. She's stressed and fearful, even though she has very little connection to those who are missing, having not met most of them more than once--if that. She fears for himself, and aches with empathy for the suffering and lost.
Since she includes the locals in that suffering and loss, it's relatively easy for her to turn that empathy toward getting people to talk to her. But most of them know little or less than Lenore and Rhy themselves, and the hours of fruitlessness are frustrating, and the people awake and willing to talk dwindle significantly after midnight.
"I can transform into bats and scout," she offers, gazing off in the direction of the woods. Her grip tightens a little on Rhy's arm, still staying close. "And Kol gave me a ring that protects me from sunlight. I haven't really tested it, but at least I shouldn't need to be as careful as I would have been a week before, if my scouting spills over into a few daylight hours."
