"Now that is something that I can understand. Scarier but squishier." He lives with it daily, even if he considers squishier in a nonphysical way.

Inej has skills that would let her destroy everyone in a palace in a matter of moments, and Jesper had taken a Durast's skills and mastered them as a marksman. If not for their "squishier" natures they would make Kaz seem like a pussycat. He felt it was a good thing those parts of himself had been worn away and left only hard, sharp edges. for their sake, if nothing else.

"And some are too reckless not to be," he admits, tones still as raspy but the rough edge of it all has dissolved a bit as he shifts to settle in against the fallen debris of a tree. It might not be the most comfortable but it was better than trying to struggle his way up off the ground.

"Which is not promising. It speaks a lot of their plans and desire, and how little care there might be for how many make it out alive."
