[Aloy doesn't know why she'd think that refusing to eat the gelatinous substance would mean she avoids the ritual--she's fully bound, unable to extricate herself or even move. They must have some fail safe if someone struggles to the point where they can't effectively force feed them. Still, she needs to put up a fight, because she'd never forgive herself if she didn't.

The spheres burst in her face, nearly blinding her, and she cries out in spite of herself. Yes. This is going to suck. Aloy struggles against the vines once more, a last-ditch effort to free herself that's already fruitless. All she manages is rage against the acolytes, a promise of what will happen as soon as this is over.
