Maybe it's a bad thing, her movement, the touch on his face, didn't hardly register. That whole side is in too much pain to really bring more into the forefront of his mind. The fever messing with his brain too badly to figure out 1) Shepard moved, and 2) she was trying to mimic the old gestures.
He knows she's standing, though. It's like he blinked and she's on her feet. Stronger than ever, stronger than anyone or anything. Like looking up at a statue - looking up at a monument, a tower. Nothing can tear it down. Nothing will tear it down.
Especially when he focuses hard enough to see the look on her face.
Maybe some would think that grin is frightening. Or threatening. But when he looks up, all he sees is a ragged, feral smile that means hope. That means a promise kept.
