He shifts to draw her in to him, cupping her chin and lifting her gaze to look her in the eyes.

"Everything he's done he will be glad for when we're found because he won't feel he sat back and did nothing. That will be the best for him."

Maybe that isn't comforting either, but he truly is actually trying to make the attempt to help bring her that comfort. Even if it wasn't at all comforting given what all it might mean Jesper is going through... as if they aren't going through Hell.
