[Michael has not made many efforts to engage with the local religion apart from the occasional question about their gods. He finds the whole notion of sacrifice and pagan worship repugnant. The recent abductions have made it clear to him, however, that he cannot live in Solvunn while remaining as detached from their way of life as he once was from Earth. Perhaps he'll start by taking a closer look at Josselyn Creed's books.

Beyond Claire's window, the sky has begun to lighten as morning proper approaches. Michael thinks he's been here long enough. Claire is pleasant company, but she surely plans on getting dressed and having breakfast soon.
