[ Claude picks up what Steve is putting down with little issue, and that's of no surprise to him. Claude has been on battlefields, he's been around death, and he probably also understands the need to try and protect those who haven't been exposed to that kind of thing. Of course, now that they're here along with (presumably) so many others, there's no telling what comes next. Trying to protect that kid from the more horrific stuff might be a fool's errand.
But they can at least try to keep him calm for now.
With Claude taking care of that, Steve leans into the pod they opened and reaches out for the arm of the other body. As expected, it's cold to the touch; they've been dead for at least a few hours now. ]
Shit.
[ He murmurs the word to himself, glancing over his shoulder to see that Claude's taken the kid a decent distance away and has him angled so that he can't see what's going on over here. Not wanting to put it off or waste any more time, he hauls the corpse out of the pod and into his arms.
This cavern they're in is large and they'll need to search it top to bottom once everyone's out of these pods. Already, others are opening from within as people free themselves, so there's something to be said for that. He'd rather there were less people than more, but at least they're not alone and at least not everyone's lost their lives in the process.
He carries the body over to a dark corner for now, not sure where else to place it, before returning to Claude and the kid. ]
How's it going over here? Hopefully the burning sensation's gone? [ And then, with a more direct look at Claude: ] Once we're sure all these pods have been opened and cleared, we should take a look around.
