Okay, we have the sap. We know that this ritual changed them in some way, it didn't just make them sick or hurt them, which means normal medicine wouldn't help anyway. I still don't know much about the sap beyond what I found out when I tested it, but it's definitely not normal medicine. So maybe we should be framing this less like a sickness to cure and more like a process that needs to be reversed?
