[ It's been quite a long journey. To say nothing of the weeks of investigating the captives' whereabouts, more recently there's been the journey here by boat; the visions that assaulted them once they made landfall; the island itself seeming to reject them by threatening to collapse around them and sink into the sea.
With their two-part plan in place and the fact that they'd been able to see Nero and the other captive (Steve, he thinks Himeka said his name was?) in the flesh, alive if not entirely well, it does feel like they're in the final stretch.
... Well, currently they're in a waterlogged tunnel system and cavern, but the point stands.
They've had to fight their way through after sneaking below ground, with both monsters and zealous acolytes doing everything in their power to try and stop them. It wasn't enough, and finally someone has managed to open up the door that was sealing the remaining captives away.
The water is up well past his knees by this point, but Thancred wades through to check on the trapped Summoned as they begin streaming out of their holding cell. He can't help it, he's looking for Urianger first and foremost. When the man himself staggers through the recently opened door, Thancred's heart seems to leap in his chest as he presses forward, the water swishing and churning around him.
Now isn't the time for happy reunions, no, but it is still so good to see him and to find some clarity in his gaze. To hear him speaking of providing aid to others, even now. ]
You are a sight for sore eyes, friend. [ It says a lot that he doesn't make some manner of joking comment about how awful Urianger looks. Now simply isn't the time. Thancred grips at Urianger's hand on his shoulder, squeezing mayhap too hard, before he takes in the rest of the mess around them. Plenty of other injured and dazed Summoned and natives are stumbling out. ]
We need to help everyone to the surface posthaste. I don't know how much longer this cavern is bound to hold.
[ As much as he wants to get his fellow Scion to safety first and foremost, Thancred knows that Urianger won't accept such an outcome. He wants to tend to everyone else first, even if he looks like he's been tapped out of every last ounce of energy or aether by now. There is that thought that creeps in, that they should have been here so much sooner, but he has to crush it down.
