Unfortunately he does expect the worst from her anyway. It's no slight on her part, it's all on him not exactly knowing how to handle having friends when all he predicts is that they won't allow him to do what's necessary, ignoring completely the similarities between the two of them.
He winces. He knows the state of his mind but he hasn't particularly paid it enough attention to keep it untangled. There's been little point. Istredd can't feel it and as far as he knows there aren't any telepaths in Thorne. Yennefer hasn't made any indication of being able to hear his own chaos.
