Kaz will argue it with Inej, with others, but the truth of the matter is, people are going to die before they're rescued from this hell they're in. He wanted Jesper to hear those words, even if Kaz has no plans to be one of those that don't make it out.

"And I have no doubt you will," he says, not trying to deter Jesper from those actions. They're the ones he himself would take when freed, would be willing to take. He wouldn't stop Jesper, or deny him that need to see others answer from all they had done.

"They took something important from you. It makes you different," he points out and they both know he's talking from experience. "Don't let them take you though," he says, lifting his hand and lightly touching Jesper's temple. "And I don't mean physically. Understood?"

It's couched softly but a command nonetheless. Not that he's sure the command will be taken as such or even something he could truly hold to but he won't have Jesper there in one way and lost in another.

"I don't know as much as I want, but I can give you what we know." At least what he knows.
