Kell regrets half of what he said the moment he says it. It sounded so reasonable in his head. It very much didn't when he said it. It sounded whiny and accusatory...and that was not his intention. He's just given Istredd real reasons to be mad at him. Or worse, disappointed.
"I..." he starts, cuts himself off, his gaze dropping to the ground. Shit. Now he really did it. "Lucifer told me the same thing." Well, not exactly to the letter, but very close in spirit.
Kell looks up. Since he already did the stupid thing, he can do something rash. It's not as if he's going to make anything worse than he already did. Before Istredd has a chance to react, say something, protest in any way, Kell crosses the distance between them and throws his arms around the other man. It's a very awkward, but also very earnest hug. Not something he'd normally do, but this is not a normal situation, and Istredd can only blame Jayce - or Rhy - for giving him ideas.
"I'm sorry," he says. "I say the stupidest things sometimes, and I just... I'm happy you came back alive. I can't imagine Thorne without you. I don't want to. That's all."
He's not doing a great job trying to hide that his voice is breaking, or pretending that he's not crying. It's stupid and childish, fully at odds with what he just claimed he isn't, but he can't help it. He has yet to come to terms with the fact that suddenly he has a lot more people he cares about. It's great on the good days, but it's awfully painful in moments like this.
