[Another quick glance slides his way, although the sentiment behind the look is more muddied this time. He isn't one of the many adults in her life who should have known better, should have been better, who should have made some effort to intervene in the ugly shipwreck that was her and Harrow’s childhoods. It still feels good somehow, and clean to have someone say it.

Her eyes slide away from him and toward another of the corpses, and all of this sucks so fucking much. Neither of them should be here, right now, doing this. These people shouldn't have been reduced to empty shells of themselves, made tools instead of individuals. But here they are, and needs must, so she takes a breath to steady herself and moves away to gather another body into her arms.]

I'm sorry, too. For you and all the other stuff you've seen but also like, everyone else in here. I mean, what the fuck, who does this to people? Except plenty of fuckers do or we'd both be rating this a ten.

[She says it as she heaves the new body into their growing pile, using the flow of words to distract from the way her skin crawls right now, from the pungent scent of death both around her and on her.]

Do you ever look at people in the street in Cadens or wherever and just think hey, I wonder what that’s like? You know...people just going about their lives, selling fruit or making clothes and getting married and having kids. I mean, I know a bunch of them have ended up in here with us. This shit can touch anyone…touches everyone, probably. But do you ever just see people like that in their everyday settings and think, fuck that looks nice?
