Thorne's guilt. Yennefer and Stephen did everything they could to help us, just like the rest of you.

[ Istredd doesn't know if Thorne actually does feel guilty. It certainly lost them face to have their highly secure Summoned snagged right under their nose. They put a lot of stock in them being in control of their group, that's why they keep them in the gilded cage. Istredd is not above using that if he can. ]

I was a historian professionally back home. I can say with ease that you should never trust anything people claim to be true about thousands of years ago. No one truly knows what happened, ever.

[ They get told tales, and it passes down and passes down, with no real control over what is true. The victors write their books and what is true can only be gleaned through reading as many texts as possible. It's why Istredd after this will be attempting to get as many first-hand accounts as he can in his library. That is the only way. ]

I think everything in their history holds a grain of truth, but it has been sanitized by the people who wrote it.

[ So that Summoned happened a long time ago? Believable. The part about Nocwich's night sky? Probable. Anything about the Fey? Likely incorrect. ]

All the factions agree with the fact Thorne used to rule all of them. How it all went down when they grew independent, though, that is probably full of falsehoods.
