[ Mm-hm. Geralt gives no reaction to the remark, unwilling to touch on the topic with someone whose name he's yet to learn.

Dean had presented it as a burden, too. More and more, he wonders how many, Dean included, have felt the man to be a burden. Something to stay away from because of that or something that must be watched and protected because of whatever role fate has designed. He's discovered a weight to the way so many of Dean's realm speak about him. Remembers the way Sam Winchester had seemed almost—not surprised, but hesitant, wavering—when Geralt had said he would not leave his daughter to search for Dean's body. As though that assertion had provoked a realization in the brother.

Silence settles between them. Geralt is in no hurry to fill it while he contemplates how much he wants to say. Does it matter? Lucifer is well aware of the Mark and all it entails. No point in trying to keep things in confidence once it's reached the devil. ]

Lucifer believes death was not a viable solution. [ But he can't tell if Lucifer meant once the Mark took too strong of a hold or what. If the so-called Darkness is no longer a part of the mark—a possibility Geralt thinks is more likely than not—then how much of what's known of the Mark applies? ] What do you know?
