You say that but you still know more spells than I do.

[ And she knew that for a fact. Her paltry repertoire had been side-eyed by Lysithea during their time as students on than one occasion, and plenty of those times had incidentally been during group study sessions with Claude. The only time Lysithea's constant haranguing about studying had let up was during the war when they arguably had other things preoccupying them - like trying to stay alive. Even though they both had their fair share of difficulties with magic, the fact of the matter was that Claude kept trying where Hilda hadn't.

She knows that this probably isn't the last time that they'll breach this subject and that her attempt at changing the subject was lame at best. But Claude's kindness, his willingness to move on in spite of that was just another one of the endless reasons that she adored him. Her eyes flutter closed as his lips press to her temple and they stay like that a beat longer. Before he can pay, she adds a handful of other paints (a brilliant gold, a deep forest green) that join the other pots she had chosen, keeping her hand clasped with Claude's all the while.

With the coin handed over, she allows herself to be lead away again. Her eyes are still misty but that doesn't detract the soft, adoring smile that she gives him. There's plenty on the tip of her tongue that she could say, but they're all flirtatious, silly, wistful, hopeful. In the past they were all things she would have said without a second thought but things had changed. She couldn't say them now. So she keeps them close to her heart instead. Her eyes linger on him as she hums, pressing into his side as she offers a partial truth. ]

You know what? All of this time together actually made me realize that all I needed was some time with the moon of my life. [ Her smile widens, a spark of her usual self peeking through. ] But dinner better still be in the cards.
