"They disappear, no one has seen it happen in person, only know that the person is gone. Usually the most concrete sign, outside of them not being obviously around, is their domain disappears."

That is to assume most people make a domain, and in a way, it's a reason to have one. So people know if you're missing if it could be days or weeks before they notice you aren't around. Istredd lives in Thorne where it's incredibly easy to know when someone is gone. They live in close quarters. It is why Thorne was one of the quickest to realize something was wrong. Outside of the fact he was able to warn Lucifer right away.

"We don't think the factions can do it, otherwise they would get rid of problem Summoned far faster. It could be the summoning spell went wrong, or it coudl be the Singularity itself returns people. I'm afraid that is an answer we are unlikely to get."

Much of what the Singularity does is confusing. Istredd's been there in person and felt its power, even being at its very weakest during the Dimming.

"But there have been people who go home and return back here with their memories intact. They say when they went home, they remembered nothing of this place, until they were summoned again."
