Istredd doesn't always remember who knows about him and Yennefer. The two of them are close and she has stopped pretending otherwise. It was a statement of a kind when she met him at the portal in front of everyone and took care of him. But until then they did keep it quiet, outside of them spending time with magic and talking.

They are probably one of the best well-oiled machines people will ever see in action when they have to be. Their training can kick in after decades apart.
