[Her grin sparks wider when he scoffs, and yes she's now a far cry from the way she'd been when they'd last spoke. Time spent in recuperation has already worked a few miracles, helped along by Alucard's augmented medicine and the swift healing gifted to her by the Horizon. She'd hit the training grounds hard as soon as she'd been able, and already she's a long way from the hollowed-out, wound-ridden girl she'd been back in the pit. He looks in far better shape too, no longer worn down to the raw ends of himself, and for just a moment she allows herself to feel only glad that they made it out of there.]

Yeeeeaaah, I saw that. It was...something? I'm not exactly an expert but I've gotta say, there's a sweet painting just over there of a banging babe with her jugs out, and I like that a lot better.

[She makes a quick motion with her thumb back over her shoulder as she says this, motioning toward the shop window she'd been staring into only moments before. She lets her hand drop, then gives him a look that skirts the boarders of self-consciousness. Just the slimmest of cracks in her tough-girl armour showing through.]

...but there's a lot of like...beautiful stuff? It already looks so different here, you know? Compared with straight after.

[It had shocked her right down to the core of herself when Libertas had been razed. Made her question a couple of her world views.]

[ Art is ultimately all down to personal taste and preference, meaning that there isn't really a right answer. Sure, technical skill and use of color and finesse could make one piece "better" than another, but that doesn't mean that the average person is going to enjoy it more. Which is a point that Gideon makes all too well with her quick dismissal of the sculpture in lieu of...

A banging babe with her jugs out. Right.

Steve's not fully prepared to hear it, and so his laugh is almost startled out of him. Not that he's judging, not at all. If she wants to display something like that in her living space, who's gonna stop her? ]

[ He has to tease her at least a little, even as he closes the distance between them and gets a glimpse of the piece in question. It's definitely a spin on a pin-up, and he (perhaps surprisingly) isn't flustered by it at all.

At what Gideon says next, he quickly turns back to her. ] Yeah, the way they've recovered even in this short amount of time is pretty incredible. I guess having magic to help some of the rebuilding along probably helps, but it's more than that. People are filling the streets with art. It's great to see.

[ And a good reminder. No matter what happens (no matter what they went through down in that pit), the world keeps turning. ]

[She likes it actually, the sharp, shocked sound of his laughter. Makes her feel pleased that she'd been able to both surprise and amuse him. It's not the kind of reaction she used to get from the shitty cultists back on the Ninth, and whilst those reactions were precisely what she'd been aiming for at the time, it's always good to just make someone laugh.

They both deserve that, she thinks.]

I'd been thinking of it. It'd be talking point if guests come over, you know? We could discuss the artistic merits of stupendous works of a titty nature.

[She's still smiling when she continues, despite the heavier subject matter.]

But yeah, it's incredible. I kinda just thought this place would end up abandoned, that people wouldn't wanna come back here again. It was so fucked. But instead they're out here making it even more vibrant than it was before.
