[Michael wouldn't mind being seen as something of an anchor. It seems at times that he attracts agents of chaos, and dangerous people that know the meaning of the word fun. Someone needs to keep them grounded.

He has no point of reference for this activity outside of the times Josie has guided him through it. There are vague memories of Adam's childhood, sunlight filtering through thin curtains as he and his mother rolled out sugar cookies in the kitchen on her rare weekends away from work, but the tone is off.

(Other memories, not of shaping food but of arranging the cosmos to his Father's design alongside his siblings—this, perhaps, is closest.)

Michael stills at the comment, pulls a grimace like it's the dough's fault for being difficult to work with. He's inclined to take her words at face value, because there is a Right Way to do everything, in his worldview. He hasn't a clue what he's doing wrong, though. Josie has told him before that the bread comes out dry and tasteless when she doesn't keep an eye on his work.

(He is adding far too much flour, for one. He hates it when the dough latches to his hands and he hasn't learned to have a quick, delicate touch as he kneads.)]

If you'd care to show me?

[He can listen. He's great at it, in fact, when he makes the effort not to be the loudest voice in the room.]
