He's been to feasts before. Parties held by his father's associates, feasts he was expected to attend as his father's heir, gala's held in other countries rubbing elbows with royalty and the rich. He always hated all of it. He felt out of place and uncomfortable and terrified he would do something to "embarrass" his father and then face the consequences of that later. So it made sense that he had gone into this with a little bit of lingering apprehension. It wasn't necessary however, this was actually fun. He finds his assigned table and sits, introducing himself to anyone he doesn't know yet, and greeting people he does.
He doesn't even know where to start with all the food, but he decides to be somewhat adventurous, trying small portions of anything that looks interesting to him and always being pleasantly surprised at how good everything is. Considering he had just come from being a runaway and an outlaw back home he hasn't eaten this well in a while. Along with the food of course comes drink and by the end of the night Wylan can be found pleasantly tipsy.
He finds himself spending a lot of time inspecting the armillary sphere in the center of the garden. It's a simple design but it's also fascinating and he is trying to figure out how it all works and connects. It's just enough to catch the science nerd in him who always wants to understand how things work and are put together.
