Why do people keep putting him in this position?

Alternatively, why is it the people he doesn't hate that keep putting him in this position?

Jack is out of the room and Istredd may only make this worse at the moment by sheer association with Lucifer. That awfully limits the people that can slap some duct tape to Kyle and keep him standing. Is Kyle close with many other people? Shit, he doesn't know. He should know.

Lucifer very well might take some serious damage from continuing to keep Kyle held in place, though he does also loosen his grip. Mildly. He thinks Kyle has to spill blood--his own?--to do whatever his teleport ability is, but he isn't certain, and he doesn't know the full range he has, or if Lucifer could track it.

If he even would put in the effort to chase him down.

But if the wine might very well be talking, the last thing Kyle needs is to make a continued miserable companion out of it for the rest of the night.

"Yeah, no. No one tells me I'm right with that level of dismissiveness. It's usually heavy sarcasm, so I know you don't believe me. Kyle--"

And then for just a few seconds, stretched on feeling longer because he knows he's running out of time, the words get twisted up. Maybe it's caused him some trouble being so used to transferring disordered thoughts instead of working through a problem.

Whoops.

"Look, I don't know how much you know about me and my story but I'm accustomed to being abandoned at the drop of a hat--" he says, sounding rushed.

Sounding like he really needs Kyle to actually listen to him when he has no reason to, when Lucifer's still likely to be dismissed a second time, not to mention however Hungover Kyle will be.

"--and if I haven't been dropped in a box on the roadside you're not going to be. The people here get unfathomably attached to one another, not for their skills and likely out of desperation, but I shouldn't judge you for thinking yourself an outsider despite how integral you are when I've been where you are."
