assembles: (once upon a dream)

[ As much as it feels like whiplash to have a party like this follow such a grim execution (not that he attended, but he heard enough), Steve does have to admit there's one nice thing about it. Being able to see so many of his fellow Summoned who had been looking rough and rundown in the pit now dazzling in their formal wear is pretty nice. Just like the city of Libertas itself, which has bounced back from the damage dealt to it in a truly miraculous way, the people taken by Josselyn and her cultists have done the same.

Claude looks almost at home in this setting, his clothing immaculately worn and taken care of, as if he's done this a number of times before. And, based on the information revealed when he had made his pitch for why he should be one of the Summoned representatives, that's probably true.

It's something Steve's been meaning to ask about, so he quickly nods when Claude finds his gaze from across the room. He joins him at the indicated table not soon after, holding a glass of some sort of sparkling wine — more to stop himself from fidgeting than anything else.

Steve is also dressed appropriately in a fitting shade of blue, though he doesn't look quite as comfortable in the finery as Claude. He takes a seat nonetheless, smiling at Claude's greeting. My friend, huh? He's not sure why that word still surprises him when it comes up, but Claude's not wrong. ]

It has. [ They'd met in passing back in Nocwich while recovering, but with both of them being carefully watched so they didn't escape their beds too soon, they hadn't had the chance to really talk. ] This is a far cry from... well, everything we went through, isn't it? [ It feels pretty surreal to him. ]
