Altaïr closes the journal and turns fully away from it in his seat, giving her his full attention now. The room is small enough that they can talk easily.

"You were more prepared than I. The executions I've witnessed were gruesome because of the reasons behind them, not the method. Nothing like what we saw." His eyes cloud over at the recollection. He didn't and doesn't believe in all-powerful gods, but he understands that magic and power beyond human capability are very real, and whatever had killed Josselyn Creed had wielded it. "For what she did, I had no objection to her death. But ending a life should be quick and decisive. Not torture."
