earthborn: (you're damned right)

"What should scare people is that I'll burn down their whole lives if I have to," Shepard's reply is baked dry and bland, so casual that it's either a joke, or an exaggeration— or so banal a truth that it warrants no emotion at all, "I'm not interest in theatrics."

People should be encouraged to stay away from the cliff's edge because the drop is swift and the stop abrupt, not because the view of what happens at the bottom is so good. But then, she's never gone in for torture in any capacity; aside from petty, violent satisfaction, there was too little to trust in it. Fine enough, for personal edification, small-time bastards and a moment's expedience, but in matters of governance?

Hell, no one in the Alliance ever made her give an official opinion on the matter of prisoners. It was annoying even to be asked when in Shepard's Joceline should have been shot dead at her doorway, without preamble or question— and her cronies not much different.

"Look I don't know a lot about Nocwich natives, but people are people: you give it a couple months, maybe a year," She spread her hands as if to say well, there you go, "They'll get bored, they'll get greedy, shit happens— and that's assuming that people on the bottom are the only ones mad enough to arrange anything. We probably won't even have to do a damn thing; you be patient, it'll happen."
