[He nods, because that's more or less an accurate descriptor of how it works, but listens in fascination as she talks about VR being used primarily for video games; that was certainly a use for it in his world, especially in the public sector, but the technology was only just emerging. He'll have to ask about that in a moment, but first he has to figure out the best way to answer the question.]

Yeah, but it was new technology called ARI, and I was usin' it experimentally for crime scene investigation and analyzing evidence. It wasn't a full headset, just a pair of glasses, and used a glove to interface with it, but with enough practice you could get it to react to your other hand or even just your thoughts.

[Which he's still not sure if is something that was ever meant to happen because he'd never reported it, and if other agents using the ARI system had experienced the same thing then that information had never made it back to him.]

It wasn't available to the public though, at least not yet. There were some other VR systems that were, and they were mostly meant for playin' video games, but none of them were very popular because they were kind of terrible.

[Virtual Boy sure had been a thing, and really shouldn't even count.]
