"I hate that I'm hurting him. Wylan has a lot of self-esteem problems, he had a truly evil father who hated him and let him know it. But he has a beautiful heart and the type of kindness you wouldn't imagine someone coming from that would be capable of."

At first, Jesper couldn't understand how Wylan would fit in with them, all the broken Crows who nested together, but he was broken too. So they patched themselves up together. He thinks he's made that clear to him, how much he appreciates him, that he hasn't lost that love. It's just complicated. Jesper hasn't talked about it with Kaz or Inej yet, he doesn't know what to say when they're all pieced together.

"He wasn't the first person I loved," that would be Kaz, "but he was the first person to love me. I want to be with him but I respect that he didn't sign up for this. If he wants someone who will only love him, I want him to have that." It's love in an unselfish way. Jesper would even set him up with someone else, if it made him happy. It would make him sad, but whatever Wylan needs, he deserves.

"I know you'd want that too." Jesper looks at him. "When you find the right person. And I would never stand in your way either."
