WELCOME TO SOLVUNN!
WELCOME TO SOLVUNN!
Welcome to Solvunn! Bright suns and merriest of welcomes to you! The portal opens in a vast field on the western side of town surrounded by cattle, with a distant view of the bustling marketplace. The first impression of the settlement is one of idylic, country charm. There are no looming structures or crowded streets. Instead, there are cozier houses on wide streets and community buildings made of stone and wood. A gentle breeze rolls across the field and the sun is high in the sky.
There's not as much magic here as in other locations, but it's there. No one will be stopped from entering Solvunn, though suspicion will be cast upon new arrivals. Citizens will be friendly and welcoming, but curious about their new visitors. It isn't often that they welcome new folks- especially not so many at once!
With tensions between the other communities, Solvunn will not be keen on ratting out those who fled Thorne, but with the knowledge that sanctuary will not be given for free. Everyone does their part, whatever that part may be.
Asking questions will result in being told to find Rowan March, one of the council members, somewhere in the marketplace.

Indeed. It's sad but true. [ His head hangs dramatically before he lifts it up to show a wide, bright smile. ] I'm doubting there's any way to return, as well.
[ He offers a small shrug of his shoulders. Nero stares at the man for a second longer, and he feels his smile widen that much more as he takes in the stranger's broad frame.
The moment passes, and he cheerfully adds: ]
But what can you do save keep going forward? Am I right?
no subject
Far as I can tell, you'd be right. If that's your goal, you're in the wrong place, laddie.
[ It's not meant as a threat, merely an observation. Magic isn't Solvunn's strong suit, if that's what he really wanted, another settlement may have been best. That begs the question of whether it was a chosen destination or forced. Rowan regards his new company with open curiosity. ]
Aye, nowhere to go but forward so long as the Gods keep ye in their graces.

[ He lightly waves his hand in front of his face, dismissing the idea that he is attempting to return back to his world.
His wish is to see the destruction of everything; Nero believes the Singularity might be the key to it, but in what way? Will the Singularity itself bring about the world's end, or will people ordering the death of others be it? He looks forward to seeing what will happen. ]
Not too sure if they'll be willing to do that, and I hate to have them look out for me when there are folks already here that have earned their ... graces. [ The people will need all the assistance they can get, as far as the elf's concerned, after all. ]
I'm here just to help those around me achieve their dreams. That is what makes me happiest. [ Nero looks the man over and thinks that maybe one day he will tell him about his desires for destruction and see where it takes him. ] Anyway! I'm Nero. How do you do?

[ With everything about their way of life in service to the gods, Rowan likes to think they've earned favor. That doesn't mean they're going to stop or change traditions and risk finding that the opposite is the case. It's worked for them plenty so far. ]
Blessed days to you, Nero. [ He holds out his hand for a shake. ] If your intent is to help, I'm certain we can put you to work somewhere.

[ His shoulders give a small shrug, but his tone is surprisingly genuine. Gods are fickle -- loving and hating whomever they like, but being too damn cowardly to accept the consequences for their graces. ]
Blessed days to you, too! [ He reaches out to shake the man's hand, and pat the man's shoulder with his other hand. ] I look forward to working with you for however long I'm here.
[ That means, of course, however long he's in Solvunn and the world. Who knows? Maybe the Gods will listen closer in this country and realize that Nero is a being that needs to be killed quickly. ]
no subject
Aye, they most certainly can. That's why we give them thanks and honor whenever we can, to show their favor will be appreciated.
[ He returns the gesture, clapping Nero on the back. ]
We'll be happy to have ye. Tell me, Nero, where do your interests lie?
[ Is this a job interview? It certainly sounds like it. ]
no subject
But that is the same for anyone.
Once a person decides they truly and completely hate someone, no amount of gifts or sweet words will ever bring love back.
The elf, however, just smiles at what Rowan says. Why ruin their beliefs? They'll figure it out on their own eventually when their Gods inevitably let them die from something They could have prevented. ]
Ah.
[ It's the clap on his back and actually asking him straight. He sneaks around his desires for watching the world burn, but he's getting tired of partially lying. Nero's desire to make things easier on others is outweighed by his general disdain for hiding the truth of who he is.
So, he replies honestly: ]
My interests are in hunting and killing. The enemies of my friends are my enemies. And the enemies of my enemies are only my friends if I'm told they are. [ And he means that truthfully and sincerely. His loyalty is, for the most part, absolute. ]
no subject
Little anyone said could sway their beliefs.
Rowan listens, nodding his head once Nero has finished. It's not the worst thing he's been told, and at least it's honest. ]
If that's the case, then we can certainly put you to work. Keeping the roads clear between settlements can be quite a task.
no subject
[ His eyebrows lift. ]
What sort of trouble are we talking about? [ Nero doesn't expect that it'll be anything bigger than like some wild boars being troublesome. But well, that'll be more interesting than standing around and doing farming
Eh. Maybe some of the cults are into sacrifices. That's always fun to see! ]
If it's too big, I might have to ask for a bow to make it easier to clear things out for you!
