WELCOME TO SOLVUNN!
WELCOME TO SOLVUNN!
Welcome to Solvunn! Bright suns and merriest of welcomes to you! The portal opens in a vast field on the western side of town surrounded by cattle, with a distant view of the bustling marketplace. The first impression of the settlement is one of idylic, country charm. There are no looming structures or crowded streets. Instead, there are cozier houses on wide streets and community buildings made of stone and wood. A gentle breeze rolls across the field and the sun is high in the sky.
There's not as much magic here as in other locations, but it's there. No one will be stopped from entering Solvunn, though suspicion will be cast upon new arrivals. Citizens will be friendly and welcoming, but curious about their new visitors. It isn't often that they welcome new folks- especially not so many at once!
With tensions between the other communities, Solvunn will not be keen on ratting out those who fled Thorne, but with the knowledge that sanctuary will not be given for free. Everyone does their part, whatever that part may be.
Asking questions will result in being told to find Rowan March, one of the council members, somewhere in the marketplace.

Aye, don't fret too much. A community this big can always use extra hands. For what reason did they say you were imprisoned?

[And until he's finished having a gay crisis over it, that's all he's daring to refer to Jon as.]
He said, um, allegedly, th-that we were all chosen as people who would, um. Help Thorne, basically, for some reason or another. Everyone who got put in jail was... a-a mistake, more or less. People who Ambrose already decided wouldn't or couldn't help, or. Or he tried summoning someone and got us instead, and we weren't any good to him.

[ That has yet to be seen, but he can assume that it didn't go as well as the mage intended if so many flocked to their greener pastures. ]
Did you see these so-called mistakes while you were down there? Give any indication they were wrong?

[He lifts a hand and rubs his neck uncomfortably.]
They had people's magic, uh, sort of locked down in the cells, so no-one could. Could try and escape, I suppose, but. No one there really seemed like they ought to be imprisoned, for the most part, we were all just. Confused, and scared, and tired.

Treated ye worse than animals is what they did. I wouldn't even keep my goats in such a sorry state!
[ As loathe as he is to think people went to the Free Cities, at least it wasn't Thorne. Realistically, Rowan can concede that if there were many more, it would be more difficult to handle all the new arrivals. ]
I'm sorry to hear what they've done, but rest assured, you won't be gettin' the same here.

Thank you. Really- honestly, i-it's been-- a while, for me, to- to have someone honestly on my-- o-our side. And-- [He squares his shoulders a little, then, trying to look professional.] I-if there's anything at all I can do to help your community out, I'd be honoured. I used to work at a- a-a historical institute for- I suppose magic, uh- we kept records of unique, um-- encounters, with powerful beings. So, I'm familiar with a wide range of unusual, weird situations.
