Well, hallucinogens disrupt the interaction between neurons and neurotransmitters. Those endogenous chemicals that regulate appetite, mood and the circadian rhythm. And neurons - nerve cells - use those transmitters to communicate with each other throughout the body.

Psychiatric medication mimics these chemical messengers by altering the receptor of a particular neuron, changing both shape and condition. Does this make sense to you?
