This is very confusing to him too as he really would have thought Geralt, Yennefer, or Ciri would have mentioned someone else. Especially Yennefer, considering she's calling him husband, and they are going to definitely have a talk about that later. But with Geralt making it clear by putting a hand on his shoulder, he truly thinks for a moment about how he'd like to knock his mask right off his face.
