Partially it's because he hasn't had much motivation or desire to do so, content to just mess with his own Horizon and also sulk a bit, but since he's started feeling a little better the urge to explore has gotten a bit stronger.
It's rewarded when he ventures into Lucifer's domain, because this place is really cool. Very, very cool, if somewhat ominous, and that sense of foreboding helpfully balances out his sometimes reckless curiosity, preventing him from getting too close to the water of the red lake. Instead he stops well safe of the waterline, looking around at the place, before catching sight of someone on the beach.]
