I'm glad you did, it felt right. Like I was looking at the real you I could sense behind the body.

That is why Istredd told Lucifer he found that attractive too because it felt like him. He loves him in a way that seeing his true face only felt more connected to him. If he knew that some people found it ugly or overwhelming, he probably could understand from an outsider point of view, simply because it was so strange and alien. But for him it was like going 'oh there you are.' Istredd likes the body, 'Nick' was a handsome man. But that's not what he finds appealing.

I figured out the body wasn't yours when you came back injured from that fight with Dean and Geralt. Something about the way you were confused about how it was hurting and healing improperly, meant you weren't in a natural form somehow.

Lucifer did eventually explain in more detail, but Istredd already flagged that as interesting. He was pretty good at waiting for Lucifer to tell him things in the beginning, before he became so fascinated by him he kept asking. Istredd knew about body possession but nothing like this so it was very confusing. But intriguing. Istredd is very smart and observant.

No. I could tell. And he sounds certain about that, devil's advocate or not. Istredd didn't have the words for it back then, only that something was different about Lucifer. Maybe on some subconscious level he could tell his energy wasn't connected, but either way, he could tell it was unusual.

Lucifer is tired, he can feel him starting to drift. Istredd runs a hand up Lucifer's back, carding through his hair, holding onto him. He usually hits a wall after social situations and he's there now, after his anger about Geralt is behind him and they've talked out some things.

He takes the pieces of Lucifer's thoughts and hums in response to it agreeably. Can't chase me away. Istredd isn't afraid of the inhuman creature nestled sleepily against him. The idea of being afraid of him is laughable, no matter what he looks like. He kisses Lucifer's forehead.

Yours, he reminds him, near-asleep himself.
