[ steve has always been the type to try anything put in front of him. sam knows a good portion of that has to do with coming out of the ice, waking up to an entirely new world and knowing the only way into it is head first. but that's also just something so inherently steve - to be willing, to be trusting, to be brave. so yes, sam has absolutely put just about anything he could think of in front of steve to try, of all sorts of spice levels, even if there had indeed been some adjustments made.
if you're coming from the forties, you gotta work up to real cajun spice - that's all sam's gonna say about it, too.
and if steve's not going to think it's weird that yes, sam is absolutely just sort of watching him eat. has just watched him eat before. well - it's between the two of them, then, isn't it? and right now sam is feeling satisfied and content and good - the dish was a winner, after all. why wouldn't he? ]
Thank you. I agree. It's a good thing they're- doing the dishes! [ the last bit of that is said with a bit more of a raised voice, specifically so a couple of women across the table can hear him. it's coupled with a slight amount of straightening, just to be sure they can see he's talking about them, before he's leaning back in his chair with a laugh and a grin. ] Oh, I know you do. [ was that a wink? ] But you shouldn't always have to do the dishes. Share the love every now and then.
[ steve's immediate turning to sam's own plate is...expected, really, and sam's grin only turns marginally sheepish. ] Fine, fine- I'll let you buy me dinner after all this. There's a great kebab stand down the road from Mag's that's usually open late. I think I might've mentioned it before- have you tried it yet?
