The two of them probably have a lot in common, not the least that Lucifer is very feline himself. I saw them talking at the mingle, I can only imagine what mischief was being said to amuse them.

[ Istredd pays very close attention to everyone at the mingle. They were not in his area but he keeps a hawkish eye on Lucifer. Mostly because he likes looking at him. It's soothing that he is nearby because the mingles are stressful for Istredd. He saw the two of them talking and thought that seemed like a nice combo ... if yes, a potentially mischievous one. It's good for Lucifer to make more connections.

He doesn't blink at her pronunciation of scholar, it's almost like an accent, or how he perceives it is. But amusing, she is clearly not very comfortable with the term, being admittedly a warrior instead. At the question Istredd thinks about what to say, glancing toward where the rift is, not out of concern but just pensive.]

Back home, the mages are a unit, an organization called the Brotherhood. They take us as children and raise us to be soldiers. [ This may be very, very familiar to Adora!] There are certain things they consider important, all surrounding what gives us the most power, the most longevity. There is a push for a mage in every political court, so we can whisper in the ears of the leaders, what the Brotherhood wants said.

[ They are, generally, not an evil organization. Much of what they do does involve wanting peace, but in an arrogant sort of 'we can make it happen' mindset. Istredd's never played well with this part, and that is why he's always been an outsider.]

My work isn't actively helpful for their cause, it's too big picture.

[ Little does Istredd know what's coming ahead for the Brotherhood and himself. He'll know soon enough. At her other question though he nods in full understanding of what she means.]

It's terrifying. [ So she knows she's not alone in that fear.] And caring so much is exhausting too, it doesn't end.
