They aren't given much time to try and decompress from the monsters and from what happened with the myriapod. The rifts only just started to close with the many monster deaths, and Istredd snuck away the myriapod's head inside his bag of holding, much larger on the inside, and spelled to keep it from rotting. He's already made plans with Geralt for Nocwich that weekend and the one glimmer of positivity for him from this experience is getting to toss it at him. A stupid inside joke, maybe, with a greater purpose. That is how he explained it to Lucifer.
It's been in the back of his mind since he was far more focused on Lucifer and his experience, on top of what has already been an exhausting few weeks for all of them. Istredd has been much better about taking care of himself this time around. He hasn't forgotten Lucifer's fears about his reckless behavior in the Pit, so he put more of his energy into defensive magic and helping rescue, rather than throwing himself in front of beasts. He allowed people to team with him, he went with back up, he promised he would value his life more, and he did so. Until Lucifer was at risk and he was very stupid about it. They are all very lucky it worked out with only a very dead monster and a messed up Lucifer head.
Still they managed to sleep, and he thought they could start to recover from here. Unfortunately, the mess of this situation is not done with them. Istredd wraps himself around Lucifer, the comfort of his mind nearby, concern for him the most important priority. And all of that goes out of his mind when in the middle of the night, his dreams turn exceptionally real. He's only heard about this before, people having a new set of memories, but the experience makes him instantly wake up, gasping. He's confused as memories slot into place, some incorrectly, all over the place, and he scrambles away from Lucifer, their closeness making him feel boxed in instead as he struggles mentally.
To Lucifer it would be a strange surge of feelings, of panic and grief, anger and fear, and some images flash but they're not in order. A red-haired woman with an arrow in her arm, blood and bodies, fire and ash everywhere. At first, the only thing he can think about, remember, is the horror of watching his home get destroyed, of him yelling for Marti has he violently rushes through the smoke and kills soldiers without hesitation. But it's all chaos, that's what he can see, at first.
Istredd hasn't managed to put his mind balanced so it's all a mix of traumatizing memories and feelings right then, as if he's stuck in it, and may be for a long time. He stumbles to his own bed and settles next to it, back to the wall, legs pulled up to his chest. Not unlike Lucifer when he's dealing with something too much.
