[ Demolish is not an inaccurate description, though Geralt can't say he enjoys hearing it stated aloud. Was Vilgefortz truly so powerful? He's lost battles before. He's always known where he faltered, what lessons to learn moving forward.

Each time he reflects on his fight with Vilgefortz, he cannot pinpoint the same. Perhaps his mistake was confronting Vilgefortz at all. That's what troubles him most. The thought that he failed not because he made an error in judgment, but because he wasn't enough. And if he isn't enough to protect Ciri, then where does that leave him?

Alive, as Istredd says. It's something. He's on his feet. And however impressive, Vilgefortz is still a man.

Unlike the Wild Hunt. ]

Exactly. [ Istredd knows less than what Geralt was hoping, though he isn't surprised. Even Ciri seems to know little. ] Jaskier tells me they were once of the Aen Seidhe. When the Conjunction struck, it trapped them in another sphere. I don't know what they want, but the magic that lies in the Singularity—if too many doors continue to open, one day they may slip through. Or something much worse.

[ He realizes now it's possible the reason the Wild Hunt cannot follow Ciri here is because she didn't portal to Abraxas. Didn't leave any doors open behind her. She was summoned by the mage's magic. But each time the Singularity is used to prod another realm—that is a dangerous thing. ]
