The initial response does not leave Sam with much confidence - Geralt merely gestures to the other man standing in the room, and Istredd and Jaskier also turning in that direction. Part of Sam feels like maybe this shouldn't have been the meeting to arrive to a few minutes late, but he knows this wasn't all discussed in just a few minutes.
It's really only Thancred's sigh that settles Sam's alarm bells, the situations and plans that were already spinning in his head. The confirmation is needed, helpful. Honestly, Sam can't disagree with anything Thancred has said.
"I'm pretty sure we're all in agreement the Queen's a problem. But there's a big difference between dealing with a hotheaded political leader and assassination."
Sam doesn't give Jaskier any sort of look, if only because he knows where that conversation will lead. It's an understanding, or perhaps an agreed-upon disagreement, where Geralt and Jaskier tend to stand with these sorts of arrangements and the fact Sam does not stand with them. But that's not the path Sam wants to go down just yet.
"I've only heard rumors; nothing concrete. Unless y'all learned something else?" He looks to Thancred and Istredd. It's been...god, it's been some time since Sam had to educate himself on the state of Thorne. He's suddenly really glad Geralt called this meeting. "Because they're no one next in line, still, right?"
