I don't... actually ask for anything when I leave offerings. When I was little and I would pray alongside my parents, our prayers were always to say thanks for what we did have, regardless of what we didn't have. Perhaps you can start from thereβoffer some fruits or tidy up the shrines, and say thanks? Could just be for the nice weather.
Or β have a conversation and introduce yourself. I do a lot of talking to myself while out where the shrines are.
