"There's not much to say, honestly. She was a wonderful person, you couldn't have asked for a better mum." Jesper doesn't even think that he sees her in this perfect light that isn't accurate, he really does remember her so clearly. No fading over time. He smiles wistfully. "She was funny, bright, beautiful, and so kind. Everyone loved her the moment they met her." In truth, Jesper takes after her in almost every way, there's not much of his father in him, which is probably why the two struggled more.
It's never occurred to him that his mother could show up here. Technically it is possible but that seems so far outside of the realm of reality. His love of guns and flashiness come from her. "She died saving the life of a girl in our village. Durasts can heal too, we can take poison out of other people's bodies the way I strip rot out of wood." This is more detail than he usually gives to people, but he feels better these days about talking of her, and Hilda has a way of making people feel safe around her.
"I never learned how, if an expert Durast died doing it, I'd have no luck." It would be too dangerous, but he probably would try it too, to save the life of someone he loves.
