[ As a general rule, he doesn't default to doubting the skills and expertise of those he travels with unless such skills are called into question for any reason. He does worry, though, and certainly has a pattern of insisting others stay behind while he goes on ahead. Not really possible here. Admittedly, he's grateful not to be alone right now, but he still has a duty of care (in his mind) and he's a bit harder to injure than others here. So, he'll stay right where he is; a decision further reinforced by the thorn bush seemingly stalking them now. ]

Have you ever walked past a big, beautiful, flowering bush with pretty roses and thought, oh, that's lovely, wouldn't harm a fly, I'll stand here and admire it? Well, this is the opposite of that and we won't be admiring this one. Keep going and tread carefully, these vines are unpredictable. Apart from that, we've got this sorted easily, I have no doubt!
