He focuses on what Julia's said, finding comfort in her words. It's familiar to him, too, working out an answer, no matter how elusive.
"Oh, clever that. It would explain where and how they draw their ability," he agrees. "Where it's pulled from, what allows them this...very not pleasant, manipulative sort of omnipotence." Despite all of that, if it was him alone and they weren't trying to gather crystals for a rather urgent need, he'd be interested in studying them more.
His attention back on his friend now, he can only hope the birds don't trouble them again. Not for his sake, but hers. They can dredge up whatever they like from his memories and he certainly won't thank them for it, but he'd be far more cross at her memories being accessed.

Lucky me, having you at my back," he manages a small smile, despite what's happened. Though not for the first time, he worries about her and what that power means for her here. He does mean to tell her more, too, about what she heard. Eventually. It's only that he's too terribly good at deflecting. Too many years of practice. "I've got your back, too, of course. No glowy light power, but I'm here all the same and I'm good at standing between my friends and things that mean to harm them. Let's hope you've put them off a bit until we can grab some of those crystals at least."
