Learning to cook was not a skill that was really included in Diana's upbringing; even before she began training with the legion, she lived in the palace, and her meals were prepared for her. Once she became a soldier in her own right, the training in that area was rudimentary, at best. She knew how to cook a fish over an open flame well enough so it wouldn't make her ill, but that had nothing to do with seasoning or making it more than edible.
She appreciates that the Draconae expect their guests to care for themselves, she does, but at the same time, she longs for the comfort of street vendor food.
